This place is a bit far from the tourist center but man the food was great. We had an order of guacamole (we ordered this in every meal in Mexico, this wasn't the best but still okay), then we had a garlic octopus and a grilled calamare. Both were great. The server speaks find english and he works very hard to help us. Great meal, inexpensive too (paid 485 pesos plus tip from these dishes and two beers).

Visited twice—great authentic local seafood. Ceviche, pulpo, stew, whole fried fish, seafood quesadillas, cool small appetizers, bucket of cold beers. Life is good. Waiters are great and attentive. Maybe we’ll come back and try more. All for 1,400 pesos for four (88). Recommended by our dive guide and boy was she right.

Great place to eat! Service was excellent and the food was amazing! My only issue was that some dishes seemed a bit expensive but that was more due to having a lower daily budget myself so I still give it 5 stars.

Great place for the kids to play while the Adults have a cold one. Best botanas I've had in a long time. And a lot of them. Great service and ambiance!!

I'm not sure how I've never been here before, but there's a first time for everything! I was meeting a group of friends at a place nearby, but it turned out that it was closed on the day we tried to go. My mototaxi driver brought me here. I called the group and they all came over. I'm so glad they did! Fantastic place to grab a drink with great botanas! Big, airy dining area and a playground for the kids. The service was excellent and the prices were reasonable. And it wasn't loud like some of your daytime watering holes. We'll be back for sure!

Its taken me a long time to write this review. As a simple THE FOOD IS GREAT just wont suffice. We have been in cozumel for two months. And we happened upon this absolute gem in our first few days here. Yes the food is amazing we have tried almost the entire menu.. almost. But the thing that stands out is absolutely without a doubt the STAFF. These dudes are on it. And friendly and as helpful as you could ever want. We really enjoyed coming here as often as we could. Sometimes it was so full and people were waiting we would just decide to try again another day. But not without one of the staff asking us if we wanted a drink while we waited lol. Ok so the food. My top pick is anything that says ballenera. You will not go wrong. Loved the fajita ballenera the most. The whole fish was amazing the camarones ballenera is out of this world as well. You wont beat the pricing either. We will miss this gem. And if we are ever here again we will be back often. Thank you everyone at La BALLENERA for the amazing experience.

Food is absolutely delicious! Flavors are varied and layered. The arroz a la tumbada is loaded with seafood. The fish tacos are crispy and delicious. A must is their shrimp and bacon quesadilla. I cannot explain why this dish is so delicious because it is so much more than the sum of its parts.
